Cap feeding and capping
Keep orientation, transfer and final tightening as separate acceptance tasks.
Bulk caps still need to arrive at the application point in a usable orientation and condition. Lifting a cap does not establish its direction, and an orderly discharge does not prove that a downstream capper will seat it. For closure producers, handover means supplying representative samples and a controlled description of the cap, packaging and operating conditions. Use feeding and capping trials to identify the stage at which a defect first appears.
Follow the cap downstream
| Starting point | What to check |
|---|---|
| Feeding systems | Separate bulk loading, sorting and transfer, then challenge the system with real cap variants. |
| Customer line trials | Agree the sample set, check points and evidence needed to approve a cap for a particular line. |
Detailed reading
For cap feeding systems, read Cap Feeding Systems: Orientation and Capping Handoffs. It provides the detailed checks for this part of the decision.
For capping machine compatibility for plastic closure producers, read Capping Machine Compatibility for Plastic Closure Producers. It provides the detailed checks for this part of the decision.
For a disc top cap, read Disc Top Cap: Actuator Assembly and Capping Specs to separate orifice area, finish code and the skirt the chuck is allowed to grip.
